• Right to Information and Sharing of Information Form/Computer Usage Agreement ( Policy 311)

• Early Closure Form

• Allergy Aware Form ( Policy 704)

Busing Information –Please ensure that your child knows their morning and afternoon bus number. A reminder that Alternate Transportation forms are to be completed annually on the ASD-S website. Also please confirm your child’s stops and times on BusPlanner. By signing up for BusPlanner, you will be notified of busing updates such as delays, cancellations, and route changes. Information on signing up can be found here.

Traffic Notes

• For students who are driven to school by family/friends (students who don’t take the bus): We invite you to drop off and pick up at the rink parking lot, the same as it has been done for the past 3 years to avoid congestion on School Street.

• If dropping off your children at HES in the morning, please proceed just beyond the pilons and please do not turn in to the playground to drop off children. If you must pick up your children after school, please park in the spaces adjacent to the playground.

• Please drop students off after 7:50am.

• Passing a school bus when the red lights are flashing is a serious offense and may result in a substantial fine. Please remember the speed limit on School Street is 20 kilometers

School Supply and Fee Information - Thank you to families who have paid both the school supply fee and student fee. These can be paid online using cashless schools @ https://asd-s.schoolcashonline.com/

School Supplies/Student Fee 2023-2024: Total Cost: $60 per student

Amount Rationale:

$40 This part of the fee covers all student consumable supplies. With ten months of the year, this works out to $4 a month per student and covers: pencils, erasers, paper, notebooks, duotangs, markers, crayons, glue, art. Items such as scissors and rulers are recycled from year to year and are replenished on an as needed basis.

$20 This part of the fee covers student agenda and performances. For example, students will receive a student agenda ($8), school performances, skating sessions at the Hampton Community Centre in the Fall or Winter and one swimming session in the Spring. (Additional fees may be required for individual class events/field trips)

Families are required to provide the following:

•boxes of tissue (2-3 per student)

•1 set of inexpensive ear buds/ ear phones (ear phones preferred)

•Indoor sneakers Water Bottle

•1 backpack

•1 lunch bag

•1 water bottle

*there may be times towards the end of the year when items such as pencils are requested to be replenished.

Breakfast and Hot Lunch Programs – Our breakfast and hot lunch programs will start up again at the end of September. Stayed tuned for further updates!

Emergency Procedures Practice – A note for families that we are reviewing and practicing our emergency safety procedures for students, such as fire drills, lockdowns, hold and secures, and evacuations with students throughout the month of September. These are outlined for the month on our September school calendar. We are required to practice these several times throughout the school year.

Picture Day – Picture Day takes place on Thursday, Sept. 28th 2023 for HES students.

Terry Fox Walk – Our whole school Terry Fox walk takes place on Thursday, Sept.21st 2023. Students are invited to bring a toonie with them ahead of our walk. Students will have the opportunity to discuss the heroic efforts of Terry Fox and raise funds for cancer research. All donations will be forwarded to The Terry Fox Foundation. Any amount of donation is greatly appreciated. Classroom teachers will be collecting donations up to the day of the event. Donations can also be made online to our school fundraising page at: https://schools.terryfox.ca/HamptonElementarySchool
